Mashable’s Google+ hangout was with authors Mitch Albom, Dave Barry, Greg Iles, Sam Barry and Ridley Pearson. They were joined by Lisa Rutherford and Jen Lou from digital publisher Coliloquy. The conversation was about the future of e-books and the significance of print in today’s ever-changing world.
They also talked about and the new interactive e-book Hard Listening: The Greatest Rock Band Ever (of Authors) Tells All. The story is about the Rock Bottom Remainders, a garage band whose members are the actual authors (in the hangout) and some others. The book consists of of essays, stories, emails, photographs, audio clips, video clips and interactive quizzes.
Sounds interesting, but also sounds like a lot of work to experience. But one has to be smart and most of all clever if they want to succeed in the mean and lean world of literature. Everything is snapshot oriented, bite-sized and digestible. On to the next. This seems like an interesting way to engage people, and maybe keep their attention for just a little longer.
