Like Boyz II Men sang, “It’s Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” In our case, it’s hard to say goodbye to all of last week. Fantastic Fest concluded on September 29th and we’re just a little sadder for it. All our coverage can be found here, but we wanted to take this moment to share this year’s Fantastic Fest Award winners and other tidbits.

The winners of both the Audience Award and the Next Wave Award will be awarded:

  • 2017 Fantastic Fest Superfan Badge
  • Round-trip coach airfare to FF 2017
  • 4 nights hotel accommodations
  • a spot on the jury of their choice.

The Next Wave Award will receive the prize package above in addition to $500 cash.

Cake Nacho!
To celebrate the closing night film, the premiere of Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal, a monster Nacho was made… in cake form!

This tasty monstrosity was produced by the geniuses at Sideserf Cake Studio.

Virtual Reality Nightmares
We had a chance to try out the virtual reality offerings by the folks at Dark Corner. Here’s Randall during his adventure in Burlap.

We’d had to spoil the twist of the experience, but needless to say we got inside the head of a truly unfortunate victim. The production and experience were top notch and we recommend checking them out if you get a chance.

Fantastic Flash Sheet
If you missed out on winning a free tattoo at the closing night party, fear not, you can still take the flash sheet to your local tattoo shop and have one done. This wonderful art was created by Royal Tiger Tattoo Shop.
