This Week of Horror – October 22-28, 2016

untitled

Welcome back to The Ink & Code’s weekly round-up of all exciting things in the world of horror! Prepare to open your minds and open your wallets.

1) It’s a new Day of the Dead
Johnathon Schaech is starring in the latest remake of Day of the Dead and this week posted a video showing off his great zombie make-up. His character Max is apparently an update on the original film’s iconic Bub. How Schaech is able to remain so dreamy as a zombie is beyond me.

2) Friday the 13th Part XIII: Lucky 13
Apparently that lawsuit reported last week hasn’t affected production of the new film. Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form spoke with Collider and announced, “… we found the location. We have found the lake, we have found the camp. We found an amazing script by Aaron Guzikowski. Breck Eisner is directing the movie. That movie is shooting in early Spring.”They continued to praise Guzikowski’s script, telling Variety, “… what excites us about this one is that our characters aren’t just meat for Jason to butcher. These are real characters which will hopefully make the bond with the audience that much stronger because you really care about the people in this film.”

3) Naomi Watts returns to horror
Shut In is a heart-pounding thriller starring Naomi Watts as a widowed child psychologist who lives an isolated existence in rural New England. Caught in a deadly winter storm, she must find a way to rescue a young boy before he disappears forever. The film, which also stars Oliver Platt, Charlie Heaton, and Jacob Tremblay is in theaters November 11.
