This Week of Horror – October 8-14, 2016

Welcome back to The Ink & Code’s weekly round-up of all exciting things in the world of horror! Prepare to open your minds and open your wallets.

1) Evil Dead goes unrated
Fede Alvarez‘s remake/pseudo-sequel Evil Dead gets an unrated version that will release on VOD platforms on October 25th. Bloody Disgusting got the scoop on this release. I’m curious to see if it is the same as the extended version that accidentally aired in the UK or if it is an entirely new cut. We’ll know soon enough. Currently, no Blu-ray/DVD plans have been announced.

2) Night of the Living Dead enamel pin.
I’ve completely fallen into the world of collecting enamel pins and this one is a must-own. A collaboration between Inborn Designs and Frightwares, this beauty glows in the dark! Order now, and it ships on October 24th.

3) John Vulich passed away
Special effects make-up artist John Vulich, known for his work on films such as Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Day of the Dead, From Beyond, Ghoulies, TerrorVision, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2, and The Lost Boys, died on October 12th at the age of 55. Vulich was also an Emmy Award winner for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, and Babylon 5. Rest in peace, Mr. Vulich.

4) Adam Green’s Don’t Do It!
ArieScope Pictures has released their 18th annual Halloween short film, this time written and directed by Adam Green. Don’t Do It!, the story of a man who encounters a moral dilemma while carving his Halloween jack-o-lantern, stars Chase Williamson and Sid Haig. Watch it now!

5) Kevin Smith takes over Fangoria
Fangoria has offered up a first look at the Kevin Smith-edited issue, which will be released digitally exclusively through their online store today, with the physical edition and other digital marketplaces coming later this month. Look at that cover!

That’s all for this week. This weekend, stay safe and stay scared.
