Happy Women in Horror Month!

Today marks the start of the 8th annual Women in Horror Month. What is Women in Horror Month? As per the official site, it is an international, grassroots initiative, which encourages supporters to learn about and showcase the underrepresented work of women in the horror industries. We’re not just talking scream queens. This month is also a celebration of the women behind the scenes and others who contribute to horror cinema in artistic ways.

Head over to their Events page to learn about events this month in your area. I’m a little disappointed to see there isn’t anything scheduled for NYC, but that just means I’ll have to get involved to make sure there’s something for next year. All horror lovers should contribute and the initiative offers plenty of ways.

Women in Horror Month is also about giving back, and with that they’ve organized a blood drive (how fitting!). Check out the Blood Drive Anthem by Jen & Sylvia Soska. Show off that you gave blood with their custom profile icon and hashtag #InYouToGive.

To horror fiends everywhere, have a wonderful and scary Women in Horror Month!
